Out of the box is actually our FIRST project as Space Otter: it runs since 2021 and we are about to launch the campaign for issue #3!
As Giulia - our Art director AND main graphic designer - took her summer break from her dayjob, we began actively working on the print files for the game!
This will take a couple of weeks, before starting the prototype manufacturing process.
Oh! We decided to upgrade the Tiles from 85mm to 90! They are HUGE! We also adjusted the design for the dice to be more readable from any angle. We wanted to see them in action, so we made a new homemade prototype, and it's stunning!

We had some troubles to understand and resolve, but here it is: our Pledge Manager is now on Backerkit!
If you don't know what it is, don't worry: it's easy!
We previously wanted to make it on Gamefound, but turn out that it doesn't have the features we wanted, so... We used Backerkit lots of times before, and always works as a charm
โฐ Please reply ASAP! โฐ The sooner you fill in the survey, the sooner we will know how many items and add-ons we will have to produce and ship, and where to. This will greatly help us!
How to access
Right after this update, we sent the "Smoke test": only the 5% of you will receive the invite, to test if everything is working as intended. Please write to [email protected] if you notice anything strange (prices, things tha you should see and aren't there or vice-versa, errors of any kind, etc...)
In the next days, the invitation e-mail will be extended to everyone.
Please note that the invitations are sent to the e-mail you used for your pledge on Kickstarter. If you are logged with your Apple ID, check the email address used for Apple ID, or write us another email that we can add to the Pledge Manager.
By logging in in Backerkit, you should find the pledge you made on Kickstarter, and be able to manage it. Here's a brief video-guide on how to do it:
What is it and what you will be able to do on Backerkit
Backerkit is a website where you will be able to login and manage your pledge for Dance of Muses. This will allow you to:
UPGRADE your Pledge/Add additional items, including multiple copies of the game and add-ons, to your reward.ย You will find 2 brand new Reward tiers that we didn't published here on Kickstarter. Don't worry: you still got the BEST prices and offers! But if you are willing to upgrade your pledge, you won't be disappointed. :)
Enter your shipping address + phone number + additional info (languages, reward preferences, etc...) and pre-pay a temporary shipping fee (see F.A.Q. below).
Pay the remaining balance (shipping costs + upgrades) when we'll be ready to ship.
IF YOUR CARD HAS BEEN DECLINED during Kickstarter checkout, this is the best of second chances, as you are still getting the invite to the Pledge Manager!

Are the shipping fee the definitive ones? No. with new and more precise quotes, we managed to adjust the shipping fees. Please note that those are still estimates, though! Unfortunately it's very hard to have reliable numbers when we talk about shipping. We will know the exact amount only when we'll be very near to the fullfilment. We'll ship the games for Europe (and some other countries) from Italy, and the ones for U.S.A. from China in DDP - meaning that we'll grant "Friendly shipping" for those countries, as stated in the campaign. ย

Thrilled to share, we've raised over $42,000/โฌ39,000 (more than 1300% funded!) from 970+ incredible backers. This is a whole new level confronted with our previous campaigns during the last 10 years (we use crowdfunding since 2015!) It's truly remarkable and awe-inspiring. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Now Whatโs Next?
We know some of you are very experienced with Kickstarter, but we are ย also aware we have many first-time backers with us, and we would like ย to let you know the next 3 steps of the process.
1. PAYMENTS
Kickstarter will now process your payment. This can take up to 10-14 ย days for the payments to be processed. We don't have any control over ย this process as it will be in the hands of the Kickstarter platform. So please be patient!
F.A.Q.: What happens if my payment failed?
Kickstarter will send you instructions on what to do and attempt to process your pledge using the credit card you provided. We understand that some of you may have encountered issues, so Kickstarter will make another attempt every 2 days, for a week.
Often, the problem relates to 'two-factor authorization.' Please pay closer attention to your bank's messages in the upcoming days. Additionally, this might occur if your card has expired or if the payment has been flagged as fraudulent (which happens quite frequently). Here are some possible solutions:
ย Ensure that you are logged into your Kickstarter account.
ย If you're experiencing issues with the first card, try using a different one.
ย Contact your bank to resolve any card-related issues (sometimes, you simply need to authorize the payment).
Follow the steps Kickstarter advises, and they will re-charge your card in a few days. If the problem persist, email [email protected]. If it that doesn't work, message us at [email protected], will try to help and fix.
2. KICKSTARTER LATE PLEDGE IS OPEN!
Did your best friend/Board game lover miss the deadline, or do you simply want to help us grow the community?ย We have entered the fresh-new "Late Pledge" managed within Kickstarter! Just continue sharing the link to this campaign!
Some of the rewards has been removed (so long, "Art collector bundle"! ๐), and some got a price increment... but people can continue to pledge until we'll open the Pledge Manager, which will be...
3. PLEDGE MANAGER (GAMEFOUND)
In a month (more or less), we will email you a link to our Pledge Manager and instructions on how to use it. Don't worry: it's easy!
Gamefound is a website where you will be able to login and manage your pledge for Dance of Muses. This will allow you to:
Enter your shipping address + phone number + additional info (languages, reward preferences, etc...)

4. WORKING HARD ON THE GAME: JOIN OUR FB GROUP!
From today, we will work hard to make Dance of Muses the wonderful game you totally deserverd. While the game is basically ready, we still have a nice lot of work to do on the unlocked Stretch Goals, especially the Solo Mode. As usual, most of this process will be shared within our Private Group on Facebook. If you are not yet part of it, we warmly invite you to JOIN IT.

Leonardo is one of our Testimonial (you can hear what he thinks of DoM in a video within our campaign), and is on Kickstarter right now with his and his friend Emanuele's project: Light Speed Arena.
Light Speed is a 2003 game which has been transformed into a totally new game with a completely different approach, and is set to become a classic even in the decade to come.
This has been achieved thanks to Leo&Ema tech project: TABLESCOPE.
Tablescope is exactly what I expect from technology applied to board games.
Arthur Clarke said that you can't distinguish a sufficiently advanced technology from magic, and this is exactly the case: Tablescope is magic.
It speeds up and sharpens those dynamics that normally create downtime and break the flow of play. What remains is the fun, enhanced by the use of the app and its aesthetics.
The Tablescope team has done an outstanding job, and should be rewarded if only for their courage and the innovation they bring.
Absolutely have a look at this project, and see if it worths your attention and money, like Dance of Muses did.
๐ญ NO 40K = NO FINAL STRETCH GOAL ๐ญ
Unfortunately, we didn't manage to reach 40.000โฌ before the end of the campaign, so we are not unlocking the final secret Stretch Goal. Also, you will never know what it would have been...
๐ JOKING, HERE YOU GO! ๐
Come ooon! We reached 39.600โฌ, and with the Late Pledge we are almost at 40K anyway, so OF COURSE WE'LL UNLOCK THE FINAL STRETCH GOAL!
But as we anticipated, YOU HAVE TO VOTE FOR IT AGAIN! Here are the choices:
A. Original Soundtrack by Deborah Scotto Deborah already wrote the music you can hear in our video trailer. With this Stretch Goal we'll hire her to write more tracks, for you to use while you are squeezing your brain thinking about your next move while you play.
B. Embroidered Bag Repechage! Ahah, the unlucky loser of every votation receives its last chance to exist in the game! xD
C. Mysterious Muse Cover Sleeve Some of you asked for it, with this specific request for a "sleeve" that you can put (or not) over the official cover of the game, so: here's the temporary mockup cover we used for the early stages of promotion. :D
